xAI Restructures and Sets Sights on AI Infrastructure in Space

xAI held its first all-hands since merging with SpaceX, with Elon Musk outlining a major internal reorganization, product focus, and long-term plan to scale AI beyond Earth.

Musk acknowledged recent departures and said the new structure is designed to be “more effective” as xAI scales. The company is now organized around four core groups: Grok (chat and voice), a coding-focused unit, the Imagine media team, and Macrohard, which aims to build agents capable of emulating entire companies.

He also laid out ambitious infrastructure plans tied to SpaceX, including building AI satellite factories on the Moon powered by lunar resources and solar energy. Musk described a future with a lunar mass driver to “shoot” AI satellites and components into deep space to support massive off-world data centers.

The strategy reflects a sharpened focus following the SpaceX merger and signals Musk’s intent to scale compute beyond terrestrial limits. While timelines remain uncertain, the plan positions xAI around vertically integrated AI, space infrastructure, and autonomous agents operating at planetary scale. We may find some humans or aliens object, let’s see.
